Post 9: Monturiol's Ictineo Wooden Submarines

   I was doing some research on Jules Vernes, the Nautilus, and the history of submarines, and ran across the wonderful story of Monturiol, a Spaniard who built two very sophisticated submarines out of wood in the 1850's, the man powered Ictineo I, and the engine powered Ictineo II. Unfortunately, he went bankrupt, and the project was abandoned. 
   But he machines look great, and are of considerable inspiration to me, especially the Ictineo II:

   I would love to build a half model just like the one above on the scale of my puppets to use as a set.
